VIVA BEM: Hub of Artificial Intelligence for Health and Wellness

Overview

The Hub of Artificial Intelligence for Health and Wellbeing (Viva Bem) aims to promote advances in the state of the art of AI technologies, developing tools that promote the health and well-being of people, with applications aimed at mobile devices such as smartphones and accessories (smartwatch), improving its operation, either by including new features or by enabling new services associated with people's quality of life through AI. In the context of health and well-being, we outlined three macro challenges to be faced by different lines of research developed in partnership between Samsung Eletrônica da Amazônia Ltda and Science and Technology Institutions (TICs). The lines of research are:
[1] Continuous monitoring of the health and well-being of individuals using mobile devices and accessories; [2] Creation of new health-related methods and algorithms to be incorporated into mobile devices and accessories; [3] Creation of new health and wellness services based on mobile devices and accessories.
In this context, our work plan defines objectives based on five interconnected lines of investigation: [1] Federated Learning (learning from multiple devices with private data); [2] Explainable AI for sensors to promote health and wellness; [3] self-supervised learning (especially involving time series and sensor signals); [4] AI under uncertainty and learning on small datasets; and [5] profile learning (user profiling, involving biometrics and liveness detection).
